Initial challenge.
-
Lack of Design Culture

Faced a significant challenge due to the absence of a foundational design culture within the organization. Overcame this by advocating for the importance of design, educating stakeholders on high-impact design principles, and demonstrating the value of user-centered design through data-backed insights.

-
Fragmented Design Resources

Encountered difficulties in collaboration and knowledge sharing because design files were scattered across multiple external agencies. Addressed this by consolidating resources into a unified Figma workspace, enabling teams to easily access, collaborate, and innovate on designs.

-
Inconsistent Component Usage

Tackled the challenge of inconsistent usage of UI components, as existing elements in Magnolia were not documented or standardized. Led efforts to create a comprehensive library of reusable components with clear specifications and usage guidelines, ensuring all teams adhered to established design standards.

-
Absence of design tokens

Recognized the need for standardized design tokens to maintain consistency in visual styling. Developed a system of tokens for essential design elements, contributing to a cohesive and recognizable brand identity across Sanofi's digital products.
Achievements.
-
Accelerated Website Layout Delivery

Reduced website layout delivery time from weeks to just two days by implementing Figma componentization and developing efficient templates. Simultaneously refined and expanded UI customization capabilities within the Magnolia CMS, enabling faster and more flexible design adaptations for various branding needs.

-
Demonstrated Design Value and Team Expansion

Successfully showcased the value of design within the organization, leading to the recruitment of an additional designer. Together, we introduced a discovery process that significantly improved user journeys and interactivity with core components. This deep dive into user research gained the interest of brand leads, resulting in increased investment in both discovery initiatives and the development of our design system. As a consequence, the company moved towards relying less on external agencies, and plans are underway for further expansion of the design team.

-
Collaborative Website Launch for Opella

In collaboration with another designer and leveraging team techniques, successfully created a website for Opella, Sanofi's non-ordonnance medication brand, within a challenging one-month timeframe. Utilized our design system to implement a corporate website that addressed specific goals and user journeys, despite branding constraints that included limited visual elements and oversized fonts not initially intended for digital use. Delivered an innovative, rebellious, and disruptive website design that stood out in the pharmaceutical sector while managing to complete a soft launch within three months, despite CMS technical limitations.

-
Established design fundamentals

Arrived at Sanofi with no existing design culture or documentation, taking initiative to improve user experience across multiple product websites.

-
Developed a Comprehensive Design System
Created a robust design system in Figma, featuring core templates for improved consistency and efficiency in website design, which accelerated the implementation of best practices across various brands.

-
Figma Management

Successfully set up a structured Figma workspace divided into two main components: the design system and brand-specific resources, centralizing design files that were previously scattered across global external agencies.

-
Documented Existing Components

Collaborated with stakeholders to identify and document existing components in Magnolia, ensuring clearer design heuristics and facilitating better communication and implementation of design decisions.

-
Implemented Design Tokens

Established foundational design tokens for padding, spacing, and other key elements to ensure visual consistency across all digital products.
Creating a design system from scratch.
